Do you want to volunteer at an overseas sustainable project? You've come to the right place. We are able to assist you in volunteering in Africa, Asia, Australia, India and Latin America--in 183 projects. We can also get you very special airfares that have flexible change fees, increased baggage allowances and lower costs--to assist you in your volunteering and bringing donations.
There are three main different configurations of volunteering:
1) 100% volunteering. This is your intention and the purpose of your trip. You want to live and work with local people.
2) 50% volunteering/50% adventure travel. You want to explore a destination, but you want a major emphasis on the volunteer work.
3) 10% volunteering/90% travel. You're not sure about volunteering so this gives you a taste. Your experience in the country is broadened and you know more about the local people.
So you've decided to explore this idea. But what can you do? What kind of volunteers are needed? MANY! You can:
- teach English. (35 projects)
- assist in building homes, schools, and other construction projects (10 projects)
- work with children, in schools or orphanages (43 projects)
- involve yourself in community development (27 projects)
- ensure that conservation projects continue (28 projects)
- become a sports coach, working with children and community groups (6 projects)
- help protect wildlife (34 projects)
Ok--this is all sounding pretty good. But, where would I stay? During your volunteer time you'd stay in locally-run accommodations, varying from homestays, guesthouses, a specific home for volunteers, or on-site accomodations. Upgraded facilities can be arranged for additional costs.
You'll get pre-departure support, in-country support, airport pick-up, a cultural orientation, and emergency support.
Volunteering can range from 1 week to 1 year of your time--it's up to you. You can link projects together. These are real projects, helping real people and causes. You can travel by yourself, or an entire family can volunteer together. You can even create a special project just for your workplace, church or civic group.
The costs vary from $500-$1,000 for the first week; subsequent weeks are usually about $250. This covers your lodging, food, airport transfers, and support, plus a small amount for the local project. It is local people who earn money by giving you lodging and meals.
Who volunteers? Independent travelers. Families with high school or college-age children. Groups. Corporate team building. Alumni. Religious groups. Rotary and other service groups. World Affairs Councils. College and Professional schools. Internships of any type. Corporate community support projects. Spring break travelers. Social clubs.
Give us a call to talk about your interests. Here are examples of volunteering options but there are many more.
We can help you fit a week or two of volunteering into an itinerary that we develop together. You do not have to follow one of the set touring trips. We can coordinate your air arrangements, your insurance, and all activities.
If you want to live in a country longer, consider teaching English as a foreign language.
Give back to the world--give back to yourself.
