Asia Volunteering
What can we do?

There are 80 projects in ten countries in Asia.

  1. China
  2. Nepal
  3. India
  4. Vietnam
  5. Cambodia
  6. Philippines
  7. Thailand
  8. Malaysia
  9. Indonesia
  10. Sri Lanka

Here are a few ideas of what is possible.

CHINA--there are three projects near Xi'an: panda conservation, teaching at primary schools, and community work

NEPAL--you could teach English at Buddhist monasteries, conduct community work at child protection homes, or assist in the reconstruction and building of schools in Nepal.

VIETNAM--projects include building homes for underprivileged families, community work with orphans in Ho Chi Minh, or working with orphans and special needs children in Hanoi.

CAMBODIA--as in so many places, volunteers are needed to help teach and care for children.

INDIA--there are many projects in India, including community work in Bangladore, theatre and education in Jaipur, and caring for rescued street children in Goa. You could have a two-week adventure in Kerala where you visit an elephant camp and learn how they are tamed and taught to perform in relgious ceremonies.

PHILLIPINES--teaching English and caring for orphans are universal needs.

THAILAND--projects include conservation in an elephant village, caring for children in the southern Thai coast, or community work with Hill Tribe children.

MALAYSIA--in addition to community work with orphans near Kuala Lumpur, you can be part of the Orangutan Experience.

INDONESIA--work with orphans, work with disabled people, or surf and teach English.

SRI LANKA--projects range from community work with children, sea turtle conservation, working at an elephant sanctuary, or teaching English.

There are also projects that include more traveling than volunteering. Examples include:

ULTIMATE THAILAND. Four weeks--$2195. After exploring the serenity of the Grand Palace and the modern madness of the Khao San Road in Bangkok, it’s off to Lopburi to learn how to cook and speak Thai. Next we take you to a local temple for 3 days of meditation and Thai massage before heading to Kanchanburi and a floating guesthouse which will be your home for the next few peaceful days. Our penultimate stop is the coastal town of Chumpon where you can sample life on a community farm as well as the beach before heading to Koh Tao and lending a hand on a beach conservation project.

ULTIMATE CHINA. Four weeks--$4835. On this incredible tour you will see some incredible sites from Beijing in the East to Urumchi and Kashgar in the North West. Then you are off to Xi'an to see pandas and into the bustling metropolis of Shanghai!  Time at the volunteer project in Xi'an will be to provide general care and assistance in looking after children. This will involve playing games, teaching English & basic life skills.

ULTIMATE INDIA. Four weeks--$2195. On this Ultimate India tour you will get to see the best of everything! Your trip starts up north in magical Jaipur. Be dazzled by the “pink city” and then head deep into the desert by camel. You will stay out under the stars and fall asleep to a silence more profound than anything you have ever felt before. Next it’s on to see the greatest homage to love ever built, the world famous Taj Mahal. Once you’ve taken in the northern highlights you will jump on board a train and head south to Mumbai. You will have some time to explore this bustling metropolis before you move onto more tranquil surroundings. These come in the form of sandy beaches, Portuguese colonial architecture and warm Goan hospitality - not forgetting the highly spiced Goan food! As you continue your journey south, the pace slows even further as the temperature climbs higher and higher! In Kerala you will chill out on an amazing cruise through the backwaters and visit with children in need. Your volunteer times is working with special needs children. From North to South, deserts to forests, beaches to rivers, and cities to villages, the Ultimate India tour really leads you through the very best of India!

VIETNAM DISCOVERY. Two weeks--$2195. From the hustle and bustle of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city to the stunning islands of Ha Long Bay and the ancient town of Hoi An, this trip really does take you to all the great sights (and a fair few off the beaten track!) of what is a wonderful and rewarding country. During your time living with a hill tribe community you'll have the opportunity not only to get an understanding of local life but also to pass on your language skills to the local children. Traveling by train, boat and car you'll get to experience Vietnam from the inside led throughout by our expert local guide.

ULTIMATE SOUTHEAST ASIA. Four weeks--$2855. As you travel across Thailand, Laos and Cambodia you will get the chance to spend the night in all kinds of crazy places. Aside from the rice barge (an antique boat used to transport rice), you will find yourself waking up in the bustling city of Bangkok, on an overnight train as it pulls into the mountainous region of Chang Mai, in bamboo huts in a hill tribe village in Northern Thailand and in various friendly Lao and Cambodian guesthouses. Your last few days are reserved for sleeping near an old favorite…the beach. After weeks filled with stunning temples, dense forests and friendly children vying for your attention, you will have a few days to lounge and relax on the bright white beaches of Koh Samet before you head back to Bangkok for your final night of the trip.
