Forty-eight projects in Africa are based in four countries:
- Uganda
- Kenya
- Tanzania
- South Africa
There are many options that include travel in addition to volunteering. The combination is really easy. Here are a few ideas of what is possible.
UGANDA--teaching English and community work with children are the primary projects.
KENYA--favorite projects include community work with children in Mombasa, building in underprivileged communities, ecology conservation, and teaching English.
TANZANIA--Volunteers are needed to help at schools and at projects aiming to alleviate poverty and deal with the effects of HIV/AIDs. You can be involved in community work with young children in Moshi, or teach English in Stone Town on Zanzibar.
SOUTH AFRICA--favorite projects include working with children in a township near Cape Town, assisting at a monkey sanctuary near Kruger Park, and living with lion cubs at a reserve.
Do you want to travel as well as volunteer? Here are several possibilities.
ULTIMATE TANZANIA. 4 weeks--$4175. Join the Ultimate Tanzania tour and you will be amazed at how much you can see and do in just four short weeks. You will start off visiting the fantastic capital city of Dar es Salaam and then head to the famous Selous Game Reserve to see wildlife roaming free in their natural habitat. After a week working with the local community in Moshi you'll then head off to experience life with a masai community and a safari in the world famous N'gorongoro crater. Finally, as a reward for your efforts, you will be whisked away to the beach paradise of Zanzibar for some sun, sand and plenty of free time to explore the island.
SOUTHERN AFRICA OVERLAND. 4 weeks--$3295. Choosing which country to visit in Southern Africa is no easy task; do you go for the traditional cultures of Zambia, Botswana’s big game or Namibia’s river safaris? At last help is at hand on a tour which brings you everything. During the fun-packed 26 days you will enjoy camping in the bush, volunteering on local building and teaching projects, taking a game drive, white water rafting and visiting Victoria Falls. All of this makes the tour something worth writing home about. In Southern Africa everything seems multiplied; the animals are fiercer, the jeeps are tougher, the people are friendlier and distances are bigger. Taking a tour means not having to worry about arranging travel and the expert guides mean you don’t have to worry about getting eaten by the animals!
KRUGER TO MOZAMBIQUE. 4 weeks--$3460. 12 days touring, 16 days volunteering. We start in the Kruger National Park where you’ll spend nights out under the stars before enjoying game drives and guided bush walks. Before you’ve had a chance to catch your breath it’s off to Swaziland where you’ll put a smile on the face of orphans and vulnerable children using a little tender loving care. We save the best until last though, and round off the trip with a visit to Mozambique, the largely undiscovered gem on the south-east coast. Ride the waves that break off the coral reef and lap the tropical beaches before a quick ocean safari, a spot of horse riding and a beach party bring the curtain down on your trip.
KRUGER TO CAPE TOWN. 2 weeks--$2195. On this spectacular trip you will have the chance to view amazing wildlife at Kruger National Park. You will go on game drives, a nature walk and a river cruise in order to maximize your viewing opportunities. You will also spent time learning about the vast variety of plant and animal species in the area. From the African bush you will go straight to Cape Town where you will have the chance to see more creatures at play: young, boisterous children. You will make new friends while making a difference by volunteering at a nursery school for disadvantaged children near Cape Town.
GORILLAS AND COMMUNITY WORK. 2 weeks--$2525. If you are patient, have a great imagination and love working with children then you can have a great time helping Mombasa`s vulnerable children. Most of these children have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS so by giving your support you will help to get their lives back on track. Then after the hard work is done travel over to Uganda in search of Mountain Gorillas in their natural habitat deep in the forest. You'll be trekking through the jungle keeping an eye out for these amazing creatures – a once in a lifetime adventure!
GORILLAS AND ELEPHANTS. 2 weeks--$2295. You will be involved in a range of activities including monitoring elephants, improving fencing, planting trees and collecting elephant dung and turning it into paper. In Uganda you'll go on game drives and trek with mountain gorillas - the highlight of anyone's trip! Share on Facebook
